The government spent ten years (1995-2005) to construct the most controversial hydropower project in central China, the Three Gorges Dam (三峡大坝).
From the first day of the construction, we heard two very different opinions. Supporters said the dam would bring inexhaustible cheap electricity to China.
Opponents, many of them are scientists, said that the dam would bring serious ecological disasters, and it likely would be demolished after decades.
Frankly speaking, I really don't know who is right and who is wrong. I only know that in this year (2021), factories all around China are seriously short of electricity.
