In 2003, the government launched China's first web-based nationwide lottery - shuangseqiu (双色球), and 45% of lottery revenue will be used for social welfare.

Shuangseqiu's rules are very simple: a computer randomly select 6 from 33 red balls (with red numbers), then randomly select 1 from 16 blue balls (with blue numbers).

If 7 red and blue numbers you selected are exactly the same as 7 numbers selected by the computer, congratulations, you very luckily won the jackpot!

In Beijing, shuangseqiu and other lotteries became a favorite of the poor who are eager for getting rich overnight. Unfortunately, they are still poor today.
