In 2003, two outstanding singers (also outstanding actors) in Hong Kong who China fans really liked passed away. They were Anita Mui (梅艳芳) and Leslie Cheung (张国荣).

Anita died of cancer at the age of 40. Hong Kong media referred to her as "the Daughter of Hong Kong," the greatest honor and the highest praise for a Hong Kong woman.

Leslie committed suicide due to depressive disorder at the age of 46. Leslie was the first famous artist in Hong Kong to publicly recognize himself to be a homosexual.

Leslie's nickname is Goh Goh (哥哥). Every year on Goh Goh's death day, China radio stations will play his songs, especially his signature song - The Wind Blows On (风继续吹).
