During two decades after the 9/11 incident, many Afghan place names that had never been heard before, such as Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Kondoz, frequently appeared in China's newspapers.
I knew that with the help of the United States, a new regime was established in Afghanistan. Women can work, girls can go to school, and the people can vote for the president.
But I (and most Chinese) did not expect that the Taliban, which was overthrown 20 years ago, would come back to power in 20 years. Darkness fell on Afghanistan again.
The conclusion is: in a mountainous country like Afghanistan, neither Britain, Russia nor the United States with the most advanced weapons, can defeat those barefooted troglodytes.
