In 1980, there was a popular song "Young Friends Come to Meet" (年轻的朋友来相会). From youngsters to oldsters, everyone liked to sing it. Two lines of the lyrics were:


Twenty years later, let us meet again.

How beautiful our great motherland will be!


On January 1 2000, when new millennium really arrived, almost everyone (including me) couldn't help but exclaim surprisedly: "I never expect this year comes so quickly!"


Confucius, China's most famous philosopher, said: "The passage of time is just like the flow of water, which goes on day and night." I completely understood its meaning.
