In April 1998, a China-Taiwan jointly-produced TV costume drama - Princess Huanzhu (还珠格格) - was aired in two countries. It is a comedy about a Manchurian princess of 18th-century Qing Dynasty.


Vicki Zhao (赵薇), a 22-years-old tomboyish actress, played the princess. Because of this comedy, Vicki turned into a superstar in China, almost all audience of all ages and all genders liked this girl.


Unfortunately in 2001, Vicki suddenly became "people's enemy". The reason was that she wore a short skirt with a Japanese military flag pattern on the front during an international fashion show.


In 2017, Vicki became "state's enemy" again, because she and her billionaire husband plotted a notorious securities fraud. After that, Vicki completely disappeared from China's show business.
